Hey there, strangers! As you obviously know, I haven't posted anything new here in a long time. The last time I was talking about spring... huh. That kinda came and went, didn't it? Well, here's what I've been up to lately.
Fifteen!
I'm fifteen now! Yes, as of October eighth, 2013, I am officially fifteen!
Haircut!
I cut my hair. It's super short now.
Glasses!
I got new glasses! The old ones kinda broke... a lot. So now I have these new ones that are nothing like my old, huge black frames.
Nose Stud!
Yes, I got my nose pierced for my birthday. It is epicness. I will get pictures as soon as I figure out the ridiculous computer system our homegroup follows...
ComiCon!
The title alone should be enough to get you excited. I went to ComiCon with my girlfriend! I cosplayed as Tony Stark, she was Jotun Loki, and together we were FrostIron! (One of our collective favorite ships) IT WAS SO MUCH FUN! Once again, PICTURES SOON! As soon as I figure out my frakking computer...
My Name is Bridget, and this is my blog. You're not going to find anything too specific about hobbies or anything here. I just write whatever pops into my head. I treat this like a public journal, you know? So go ahead, read about my life, leave a comment, whatever.

Summer (?)
Alright. When I posted last month, it was about Spring coming to our town. So why, as I write this not even a month later, does it feel like Summer? As I like to put it, Spring seems to be having an identity crisis.
Not that I'm complaining. Summer, for me, has always been my favorite season. Even stifling heat is preferable to bitter cold. And it means I get to listen to the white noise of the hallway fan which, despite having tune or rhythm, is quite soothing.
And then there's A/C. Me and the A/C have something of a love/hate relationship. As an environmentalist, the air conditioner is supposed to be my sworn enemy. But I'll admit; I love it. I love the smell, and the sound, and the feel. A room with the A/C on always seems to feel safer. Perhaps because it signals Summer? Some sort of Pavlovian response in a creature designed to greatly look forward to the months without the trials of Winter? Or maybe, just maybe, I'm overthinking it and it's just a quirk.
And now, dear readers, I have proven that I can ramble for a good amount of time about almost anything. Adieu.

Spring
Is it just me, or is it getting hot around here? No, it's not just me; pretty much everyone agrees that spring has officially sprung!
And faster than usual. Wasn't it just a week or two ago that I was wearing heavy coats everywhere? And now the ceiling fans are all on, and I'm wearing shorts and a tank top. The daffodils are blooming in our yard, the cherry trees are blooming in Taylor park... the only thing missing is leaves. No leaves on the trees. Sort of weird. Who knows if it's just a heat wave, or if these early high temperatures will set the tone for the rest of the warm months, but either way I'm enjoying it!

Chocolate
Hey, everyone. Just wanted to update you on something that just happened I thought was funny.
So, everyone knows I'm paleo, (no wheat, no sugar, etc) but every morning I still eat a square of 90% chocolate for my health, and because it tastes good. :) Yesterday for Easter I got a new, fancy 87% chocolate. Now, I'm not picky about percentages health-wise as long as they're above 85%. But this morning I tried this new chocolate instead of my usual chocolate, and HOLY @#*% it was sweet! Not "oh, I eat paleo so I can't have this amount of sugar" sweet, actually "OMG THIS IS SO SWEET I CAN'T EAT IT!" It was 87% dark chocolate, in case you forgot.
Warning: Paleo life may come with some side effects...

Minecraft Wolves
So, on minecraft I have two wolves named Seras (female name) and Aebh. (female name). And they just had a puppy. Sooo... yeah! Anyway, his name is Lucius, and his collar is yellow. They actually had three puppies, but the first two drowned. I made a memorial for the first one, but after the second one I figured if I made a memorial for every wolf that died, I'd run out of cobblestone. I did make one for Lorcan, though. They're all out in my tree farm.
Lucius seems intent on dying. I've saved him from drowning twice, and once from falling off a cliff. I guess that's what comes from living on a cliff. So I'm confining myself and the wolves to the house until he grows up, and has enough sense not to go jumping off high places and into water. Wolves are fun, no matter how sad it can be when they die. They're adorable, and they attack anyone who attacks you, or who you attack. Lorcan saved me from two skeletons, and killed two cows and a sheep for me! He was an awesome dog.

Minecraft (AGAIN)
Did I mention how much fun Minecraft is? Now on my server called "Svendoolia" I have that cliff-house, like I said, but I added a FARM to the bridge connecting the three rooms. I also have a level 30 enchantment on my diamond sword, (looting III and sharpness IV!) and a dog named Seras! I used to have a dog named Lorcan, but he fell from a high place... that was sad. Next I want to domesticate a wolf and name her Aebh. Wanna know a secret? I MADE UP THAT NAME. I googled it, it doesn't exist. So I got to it first. It's pronounced "Ave".

Minecraft
Okay, so Minecraft is SO FUN! I have one singelplayer world I love called "Svendoolia" (guess where I got the name?) where I live in the side of a cliff in this sort of "bowl" around a lake, and I am now also on L's server (which is famous for being REALLY awesome and popular) and I have a semi-temporary home in an igloo next to a bunch of castles. That's not the only reason I'm posting, though; I also want to share with you a dream I had and promptly wrote down. Enjoy.
(Small details are changed, but nothing huge; just that in the dream I didn't actually know who the girl was. She was just a girl.)
(Small details are changed, but nothing huge; just that in the dream I didn't actually know who the girl was. She was just a girl.)
The Dream.
I was a young girl of about ten years old, living in a
quaint little village surrounded by forest. I had quite the crush on the young
boy who lived next to me, but I couldn’t talk to him because the baker’s
daughter, a girl of about my age, was also smitten with him and wouldn’t let
anyone near him. Sad and dejected, I decided there was nothing to do but run
away.
In
the middle of the night I crept out of my house and started walking in no
particular direction. Trudging through piles of dead fall foliage and hopping
over rocks and logs, I wondered whether anyone was searching for me yet, and if
my mother would miss me when I was gone. I didn’t get very far, though. For
when I reached the short slope that separated the village from the forest,
that’s when I saw it. A body, or rather two bodies, a man and his horse, the
reins still in his hands. They were both decaying and covered in flies. The
horse was a handsome white, and the man dressed for a journey in rugged clothes
and leather shoulder-plates. I looked up and saw a figure in a black, hooded
cloak, holding a scythe in his bony hands. He looked straight at me. Or, I
think he did; he didn’t have much in the way of facial features, just a black
void. He lifted a finger to where his mouth ought to be in a shushing motion,
and then he left. I’m not sure if he walked away or just disappeared, he was
just… gone. I stood in silence for a moment. And then I screamed.
“Everyone!”
I yelled at the top of my voice, trying to gather the villagers. “Everyone,
there’s a body over here!” That got
everyone out of their beds.
By
dawn, almost the entire village was swarming around the site. Some people were
there to figure out things about the body, like how he died and who he was, and
some were just curious. Mothers hid their children’s eyes as they themselves
looked on unflinching. The small, three-person law enforcement team that the
village prided itself on was walking about the site, taking notes and asking
questions. I overheard them talking about the body. Apparently it was a man
from the village who nobody liked, but no one knew what he was doing when he
died. And nobody knew how he died, either. He was just… dead. And that’s when
it happened.
Curiosity
got the better of me and I inched closer to get a better look. And the corpse
moved. Everyone looked on, mouths agape as the corpse opened its mouth into a
crooked smile, and its eyes moved slowly around to face me. I froze in place,
too scared to do anything, as the dead man said to me;
“Be
sure to empty your soul before your journey”. And then he died for the last
time.

Minecraft
Another thing to remember about Minecraft: If you find a really awesome cave with lots of coal and iron in it, and you collect all you need, don't get greedy: Go back, put it all in a chest, and come back another day. Otherwise, you are almost guaranteed to die and lose it all.
Celtic Woman, Minecraft, and Computers
Sooo, I went to a Celtic woman concert the other day. It was CRAZY awesome! There were smoke effects and light effects and everything, and they played ALL the best songs, Lisa Lambe was phenomenal, and they have the BEST DRUMMER EVER. His name is Ray Fean. He is epic.
So that was awesome. It was worth it to wait four months!
In completely different news, a few days ago I started plating Minecraft. And unlike the first time I tried playing, when I loved it, this time it was awesome! I was so hooked, that two days later mom and dad bought me my own account and a new computer to play on. Do I have the coolest parents or what?
Just so you know, though, it wasn't a spur-of-the moment, "Hey, let's buy a new computer for the heck of it!" kind of thing. I've needed a new one for a while now. The old one was a dinosaur; the moniter was about a foot and a half thick, no joke, and it literally took about 30 seconds to load EVERY TIME YOU CLICKED SOMETHING. So I have a new monitor, a new computer, a new keyboard, a new mouse, and even new speakers! (the old ones didn't work at all) and I CAN'T BELIEVE HOW FAST IT IS!!!!!!! What was life like before this computer?
Anyway, Minecraft: Pretty awesome. I've been playing on peaceful so far, but I recently upgraded to easy, and I'm doing okay. I've died a few times, but hey, what're you gonna do?
Things I've learned so far?
1. Always have a pick and a shovel in your inventory. Those are the most useful tools.
2. You can never have too much of anything, as long as you have the storage space.
3. Don't keep too much of your stuff in your inventory. Chests are your friends.
4. As soon as you make a home, make sure to sleep in a bed there that night. That way you'll respawn there when you die.
5. Whenever you make a house, built a huge structure next to it and light it up with torches and jack o' lanterns. That way you'll never lose it.
6. Love clay. Embrace it. It is one of the most readily available building materials, and you're guaranteed a boatload of it out of just one vein. Sometimes you even get multiple stacks.
Sooo... that's what I've learned in my three days of playing Minecraft. And also that Minecraft is crazy fun.
Ciao!

Combs are EEEVIIIILLL!
Sooo... first of all, today I'm going to a CELTIC WOMAN CONCERT!!! Mom got me the tickets for christmas, so we're going together at 7:00 tonight! How awesome is that?
But what I want to talk about right now is not celtic woman. No; it is how FREAKING EVIL COMBS ARE!
You see, today, while in the shower, I decided to wrap my hair around a comb, just for fun. Okay, it was probably more my fault than it was the comb's, but still! I tried getting it out with conditioner, but that yeilded nothing but greasy hair. Mom tried to untangle it, but it didn't work. Eventually she said there were only two options: we could break the comb, or break my hair. And I have to say, that reminded me of "Angels take Manhattan". ("So, are you going to break my wrist, or hers?")
In the end, mom got some bolt cutters and cut both my hair, and the comb. I couldn't see it while it was still wet, but now I have this cute little wispy bang on the left side. (My left, your right.) So it all worked out for the best. And I have another life lesson to add to the list:
NEVER WRAP YOUR HAIR AROUND COMBS.
Right below "always pee before bedtime".

Orthodontics
The orthodontics office just called and said that I have an appointment on thursday the 13th. Ummm....
Stuff I Say.
Hellooooooo. Today I'm going to be talking about random stuff I say. Fun, right?
A while ago, I realized I have a certain group of words that I use over and over again. Like "Dude". Not sure when it started, but I call EVERYONE "Dude". Little kids like my cousins are "Little Dude", and sometimes I'll say the first name, then "Dude". Like "Owen Dude". One thing it works really well for is when I can't for the life of me remember the name of someone who, for all I know, saved my life the last time we met. If they actually know me, they probably won't think it's weird at all that I keep calling them "Dude". And if they question it, they probably don't know me anyway. Good system, huh?
Another; "Oi". Pretty sure I got this one from my dad. I say "Oi" whenever someone is doing something I'd like them to stop, or if I need to get someone's attention, or if something is harder than I expected it to be, just as a general exclamation. I don't say it as often as "Dude", but I do use it a lot.
Also, "Frak". I am the world's worst geek, because I originally didn't actually know that it came from Battlestar Galactica. I first heard it used by Douglas Fargo in "Eureka", and I thought it sounded fun. Now it's my go-to exclamation. I don't say "Heck" or "Hell" or "Crap" or "Holy Cow". Nothing really rolls off the tongue quite like "WHAT THE FRAK????" Yeah, I spell it without a "C". What're you gonna do about it?
"Awesome". I use that one a lot. Example: "My mission in life is to be awesome.". It is, by the way. Also in the vocabulary: "Awesomeness", "Awesomesauce", "Crazy Awesome", and "AWWWWESOOOOME". It's a good word.
Then there's the collection of longer phrases I use to confuse people. Or make them laugh, depending on the situation:
"The hippo in the backyard needs dog food."
"MARSHMALLOW SOCKS"
"HOLY FRAK IT'S AN OSTRICH IN A TUTU"
"To the bat cave!" (Never shout this when actually going somewhere: it's more confusing that way.)
"And then I went like, "WHOAAAA!" everyone went, "whaaa?"" (love that one.)
"DUM dum DUUUUM!"
"Onward, to new adventures!"
"Forward, into the abyss!"
And other various stuffs I say. (That sentence did not make sense grammatically. BUT I DON'T CARE.)
I don't know why I say this stuff exactly. I think the simplest answer would be that I like making people laugh, but the thing is, I don't know how it started. Just kidding. I do. Anyone who knows my parents will realize where I got it from. The point is, the next time you see me and I say something about pugs in bikinis popping out of cakes, now you know why. Sort of.
The End?

SOSFE
Sooo... Here's the dealio. Last week there was a meeting of the Houseplant Club at my house, (yes, I'm in a houseplant club. Or I was.) And we made some major changes. First of all, we are now the SOSFE: Society Of Sustainability, Fun, and Education. (L came up with the acronym.) We're going to branch out to nature and the enviroment and not just houseplants. Second of all, we're going to be actually meeting regularly. Which wasn't happening before. Yaay! And last but not least, we're setting up a website! Well, L is setting it up, then the rest of us (me and N) will make changes, and then we'll have a website! And we'll be all official-looking! Yaaay! I'll give you guys the link when we're done. Soo... I think that's it.
Plant on!

Sims 3; A tale of Me!
The one who looks just like me? Well, here she is!
Looks a lot like me, doesn't she? Only... older.
Oh, and I couldn't get the glasses right...
I had a sim that looked like me before,
but it wasn't a very good likeness.
So I sat down with my mom and Owen and worked her over,
and this is what I came up with.
Bridget at the summer festival |
She won some sparklers at the festival. |
She's a very fun sim. I use her as a family sim, so,
basically a sim to start a family with. Her Lifetime Wish is
to have level 3 visa in all three vacation destinations!
She already has a level 3 visa in Champs Le Sims, France,
which, as it happens, is where she met her husband, Yves.
I have better pictures than this, but this is my favorite.
Yves bobbing for apples. |
And not just because that's the day they got engaged!
If you're wondering why she's dressed as a mermaid,
they're at the halloween (or "spooky day") Festival.
And that's not face paint; that's pie from the pie eating contest.
It was a happy day.
Proposing on Spooky Day! |
They got married as soon as they could.
But not before pumpking carving. Why? I don't know.
They just wanted to get it out of the way...
Carving pumpkins in the yard. |
BEFORE THEY WENT TO FRANCE TO GET MARRIED!!!
(How romantic is that?)
This picture is, as the caption says, the Eiffel tower as viewed from the tower
in back of their vacation home. They have a vacation home. In France.
The Eiffel tower viewed from the tower in back of their vacation home. |
They invited all their friends from Champs Le Sims
(which is a lot, to say the least)
And got married right there, in the yard.
(The yard of their French vacation home
with a view of the Eiffel tower.)
Getting Married |
They spent a while in France seeing the sights and eating the food,
and made it homejust in time for halloween!
(They calls it "spooky day") They threw a "feast party"
(thanksgiving feast) And gave out candy.
Trick or Treat! |
And, I told you she's a family sim, right?
Well, it wouldn't be much of a family without a few kids.
So our hero soon found herself pregnant!
Bridget with a baby in her belly! |
Fall passed quickly amidst the picking of baby names, decorating of nurseries,
and raking of yards.
Raking the yard. |
The view from the house. |
The house in fall. |
Oh, did I mention their house is beautiful? BECAUSE IT IS.
And, with time, a baby girl was born. Welcome to the world, Wendy
Little Wendy in the rocking chair with her mom. |
Soon it was winter, and everthing was covered in a blanket of snow.
The couple took the chance to go ice skating as
random strangers watched in the background. With heels on.
Christmas trees were set up;
A Christmas tree in the living room. |
Mistletoe was hung;
And windows frosted over beautifully.
Like a Thomas Kinkade painting... |
Winter is a good season.
And soon, as with all children, it was time for little Wendy to grow up.
They always grow up cross-eyed like that... no one knows why.
Almost a whole year has passed now, and Bridget's collection
of greeting cards is growing too big for the mantle.
Each one represents one week; one season in the world of sims.
Ah, how time flies.
Aaaand... that's it! That's actually all I have on this family right now.
But I'll update as much as I can, and we'll see how they turn out.
And in the meantime; MARSHMALLOW SOCKS!
(Oh, and I know some of the pictures are too far apart. Blogger needs to work over
it's picture system. So bear with me.)

Fingers are The Only Way to Paint
Helloooo!!! The day before yesterday we went to the crayola factory, which was really awesome. At the end of our day we stopped in the gift shop and got (guess what?) fingerpaint! And fingerpaint paper!
So yesterday me and Owen spent like an hour making masterpeices together, and they're all on display in his room with our signatures in the corner! There's been this empty wall above his bed begging us to do something with it since we redecorated in there, but now it's covered in colorful splotches, and mountain ranges, and fruits and candies and fish and all sorts of other things! It's really pretty.
The actual painting, though, was the best part. I put on some of dad's old shirts as smocks (just like we used to do!) And I painted a sunny field. Owen watched me while I was painting. Eventually he decided he wanted to paint too, and as I was finishing up a picture of a flower, he got another one of dad's old shirts and wore it like a dress. No pants, no shirt, just smock. He rolled it up to look like a toga. :)
What we did was we would both decide on a painting, then work out who would paint which bits. It worked out pretty well. Our first painting was really little-kiddish; it was a tree, a sun, a flower, some grass, and a crudely painted bird. It was still really fun, though. As we painted, we got better and more creative. We put handprints all over the page and signed our names in big letters. We painted an ocean with colorful fish in it. One is a painting of candy, and another (which I really like) is a bunch of fruit like bananas, cherries, pears, grapes and raspberries. (I did the grapes and raspberries, which I'm really proud of. I also did blueberries, watermelon, a strawberry, a pear, and a tomato. And some of the cherries. Owen did a banana and three cherries.) There's one we're both really proud of, which is a picture of the sun setting behind some mountains, with a river running down from one of the peaks. There's another picture of a redwood forest (you can tell they're redwoods from the color) and there's two pictures of random splotches, which are actually really pretty. So that was fun.
Also, in case you didn't notice; it snowed. A LOT. We've got like fourteen inches out here. Sophie is so adorable, 'cause it almost comes up to her shoulders! She'll run around outside, and come in positively covered in snow! We had to shovel the driveway out so dad could go to work, which wasn't fun, but it was actually easier than we thought it would be; the snow was really powdery. The hard part was getting the car open, 'cause the doors all froze! But it all worked, because mom is driving dad to work right now. In fact, they left when I started this page...
Anyway. Back on the topic of drawings, I've decided to start a visual dream journal. See, the other day I had a dream about these creatures, that looked like faceless people with black markings on their heads just standing outside the house, watching us through the windows. They were really creepy, so like anyone would do I decided to draw one, complete with a description of the creature and little notes pointing out the details. When I finished, I realized it reminded me of a textbook. No, more like that field guide from spiderwick, or maybe John Smith's Journal of Impossible Things. (Doctor Who reference; You don't have to understand it.) So I thought to myself, what if there was a bunch of these hanging on my wall? Just a whole bunch of drawings of creatures and things from my dreams, with notes and descriptions all around them. That would look so awesome. And that's how the visual dream journal got started. I still only have the one drawing, but it's only been one day, so we'll see how it turns out.
Before I go, I have one more thing to say; I think I'm immune to horror now. Like, maybe not immune, but more tolerant of it. My reasoning? I recently got through all three Weeping Angels episodes and the Vashta Nerada episodes of doctor who, (I know there's four weeping angels episodes, but netflix doesn't have the seventh season on instant.) And yesterday Torchwood went all slasher film on me, and I didn't freak out even a little. So there.
Of course, last night I did kind of freak out about the drawing on my wall. The thought process;
In Doctor Who, that which holds the image of an angel is itself an angel. What if this thing becomes real?
Okay, what would happen if it was real?
It has no face, so it would probably want my face.
QUICK!!! COVER UP MY FACE!! (pulled my hair in front of my face)
After that I spent a few minutes imtermittently scratching itches and pulling my hair back in front of my face, trying not to move my lips around too much because I'd be flaunting them. It's the kind of thing that's really scary when it's happening, but just hilarious when you look back on it.
Well... Ciao for now!
Owen did a banana and three cherries.) A Post!
And, here it is; the inevitable post after the long dry spell. So... who wants a recap?
Toothpaste
Remember I told you I was going to stop using toothpaste? Well, I did , and I have been for about a month now, and none of my teeth have fallen out! Yay! Seriously though, my teeth are fine. There is literally no change. One less chemical entering my body.
Doctor Who
I started watching Doctor Who again. Something you need to know, though, is that the Doctor and I have kind of an interesting history.
See, a long time ago, (maybe about three or four years) I noticed my dad watching Doctor Who. So I decided hey, that show looks cool, I'll try it out. It terrified me.
A few years later I tried watching again. I pushed past the terror each episode inevitably brought, because besides that it was an awesome show. Until I tried to watch "Blink", the first weeping angels episode. That scared me off for one or two more years.
Last month, (or maybe early in this month) I decided to try watching again, for the sake of my friend KC, (Not K; KC.) who watches the show. I don't know why, but it just didn't seem that scary anymore. I loved it, and watched all six seasons (There's a seventh, but it's not on netflix) Including all three weeping angels episodes, the episodes with shadows that eat you, (Vashta Nerada) And the gas-masked kids episodes. These, in my opinion, are the scariest sagas in the whole show. So that's one score for... I don't know who one, but I think it's awesome. But now I have to wait for the seventh season...
Sophie
Did I say that Sophie is sleeping in my bed now? Well she is. And whereas she started out waking me up around six in the morning, she has now drifted to the decent hour of seven or seven thirty in the morning. Just thought I'd share that.
Fish
We have fish, in case you didn't know. Bereznoff and Calcifer, who live in my room, and Alex and Dave, who used to live in Owen's room but now live downstairs. See, it used to be that A and D lived in a big aquarium in Owen's room, and B and C lived in a little one in my room. But mom found a giant, 30-35 gallon aquarium in the basement, so we put that downstairs and moved A and D there, and we put their old (medium) aquarium in my room and now B and C are living in there. So. There you go.
Spinning
I had a lesson in spinning thread! See, my cousin Nate's other grandma, Nelda, knows how to spin thread, so she taught me how! I'm going to go back for another lesson sometime. I'm wearing my first thread on my wrist.
Sooo.... there you go. My life in a nutshell.
