I was just watching a show online called "Jamie Oliver's Food Revolution."
it's a show about a guy named jamie oliver, who goes to huntington, the least healthy town, in the least healthy state, in the least healthy country, in the world. (which by the way, is america.) they showed some facts about food that are really disturbing.
for a start, an experiment revealed that most children in preschool, kindergarten, and possibly older don't know their basic vegetables and fruits. when presented with cauliflower, tomatoes, and eggplant, (which was dubbed egg salad by the kids.) they got the answers wrong, and when presented with a potato, they obviously had no idea because they didn't even bother to guess.
heres another one. they showed how much fat goes into a class of children from preschool age to ten, and it was massive! not only that, it was the look of the stuff. they were actually using real fat, and they had to use a dump truck just to get it from point A to point B.
even worse, when jamie asked about it, he discovered that children (maybe just in the one school, i don't know.) from preschool age, to ten yrs didn't know how to use a fork, or a knife, because they weren't allowed to. thats right, they were forced to use either a spoon, or their fingers to eat their food.
this is the big one.
when you take off the good parts of a chicken, you are left with the strings and giblets of cartilage and tendons that nobody wants to eat. fast food companys have found a way to sneak it into our diets, without us even knowing about it. they take all that gross stuff, and run it through a food processer. then they add flavor, preservatives, flour, and mix it all together into a goo that looks like pink whipped cream. finally, they mold it into a patty shape, and bread it and fry it, creating the disgusting, unhealthy chicken nugget. how can such a horrific creation be so delicious and famous at the same time?
if you want to watch the show, you can find it online:
